چکیده

Background Unexplainable giant T-wave inversions in the precordial leads with apical wall thickness <15 mm has been reported. These patients cannot be diagnosed to have apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) according to the current criteria. The objective of this study was to evaluate the apical morphology of subjects with giant T-wave inversion in the absence of apical wall thickness>15 mm using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).

A new variant of apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? T wave inversion and relative but not absolute apical left ventricular hypertrophy

Background Some patients present with ECG changes and symptoms that suggest HCM, but imaging using conventional wall thickness (WT) criteria is non-diagnostic. We noted that these criteria fail to take account of the normal left ventricular wall tapering towards the apex and hypothesized that there is an apical HCM variant: patients with T-wave inversion (TWI) and HCM like features with relativ...

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) characteristics in apical versus non-apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)

Methods Approximately 3,100 CMR scans were reviewed from our CMR registry (Jan 2014 to Mar 2015). comprehensive CMR protocol was used including cines, early and late gadolinium enhancement imaging. 114 consecutive HCM patients were identified. A Asymmetric HCM was defined as: septal to free wall thickness ratio of > 1.3; apical HCM as apical wall thickness of > 15 mm or apical to basal LV wall ...

Subtle structural abnormalities in genotype positive phenotype ‘negative’ patients with pre-clinical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM): a blinded, controlled cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) study

Background Mutation carriers without hypertrophy gene positive, phenotype negative (G+P-) are not uncommon in clinical practice. There is debate about the presence of subtle abnormalities or variants of the left ventricle in G +Pindividuals. Previous research into this area only evaluated limited mutations in the myosin binding protein C and a-tropomyosin genes. We hypothesized: 1) that G+Ppati...

Sex-related Left Ventricle Rotational and Torsional Mechanics by Block Matching Algorithm

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate how left ventricular twist and torsion are associated with sex between sex groups of the same age.Materials and Methods: In this analytical study, twenty one healthy subjects were scanned in left ventricle basal and apical short axis views to run the block matching algorithm; instantaneous changes in the base and apex rotation angel...

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Among Non-Asians: A Case Series and Review of the Literature

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) has been rarely described in the Western world. More recently, improved sensitivity of diagnostic modalities and increased diagnostic awareness have increased detection rates, suggesting that the prevalence outside of Asia may have been previously understated. Hallmark features of AHCM include deeply negative, "giant" T-wave inversions on electrocardiog...
